A Letter From the Owners Bio Bio

Dear Adventure Traveler,

Thank you for your interest in Bio Bio Expeditions!

Over 15 years ago, we launched Bio Bio Expeditions based on our genuine love for travel and a desire to explore the most beautiful and remote spots on the globe. Our company has grown in size and scope from our first trips on the Bio Bio River in Chile to include adventure travel in hand-picked destinations in South and Central America, Africa and Asia.

Our goal at Bio Bio Expeditions is to share our expertise and our love of wild places with our guests. Over the years we have had to stop and think about what’s important to us. We’ve found that it’s not the number of trips we offer, but the quality of the experience. Why? Because, it is essential to who we are and our goals for our company. We have kept Bio Bio Expeditions small and trip offerings limited to stay true to our word and to our dream. As the co-founders of Bio Bio Expeditions, we are directly involved in every aspect of our adventures - from planning, greeting, captaining paddle boats, training guides, and sometimes, acting as chef du jour. We’ve worked as safety kayakers, delivered hors d’oeuvres to a mountain top at sunset and personally choose all our gear.

Our adventures are accompanied by a crew of international river superstars who have established a new standard of excellence in wilderness travel. They are known for their friendly and caring hospitality and their knowledge of the culture, history and ecology of the countries we visit. Safety is always a priority and we were proud to be the official safety team for the 2000 International Whitewater Challenge on the Futaleufu River in Chile.

A quality adventure vacation involves detailed planning and we strive for the best in every trip. Whether staying in tents or luxury wilderness lodges, we never compromise the quality of our accommodations or our gear. Great food is also very important to us and we can cater to any dietary requirements.

At Bio Bio Expeditions, our team is closely tied together by a true desire to make your adventure with us the very best. Our goal is to exceed your expectations and offer you an authentic, unique journey that puts you in greater touch with the world around you. Whether hiking through the Cotahausi River canyon of southern Peru or paddling the glacial blue waters of the Katun River in Siberia, we are confident that you will feel inspired and rejuvenated after a trip with us! We look forward to sharing our passion for adventure with you and warmly invite you to join us.

We are proud that our company has received wide media recognition for being a premier adventure travel company including:

  • National Geographic Adventure Magazine's choice of Bio Bio Expedition's Cotahausi trip as One of their "Adventures of Your Life: The Age of Conquest".
  • CNN.Com choosing Bio Bio Expeditions as the selected outfitter for a "Dream trip - Climbing Kilimanjaro" (03/14/06)National Geographic
  • National Geographic Adventure selecting us as one of their "Best Outfitters on Earth" (10/22/07) and one of their "Ultimate Escapes" (04/01/07)
