MACHU PICCHU TOURS – PERU ADVENTURE TRAVEL
Bio Bio Expeditions has a long, varied and exciting history in Peru and we are excited to continue to offer the best in Peru adventure vacations – Machu Picchu: treking the Inca Trail, or the lesser known Ancascocha or Salcantay trails, and rafting on the Cotahuasi River.
We began running rivers and trekking in Peru over 25 years ago and fell in love with the natural, cultural, and historical wonders. While doing our own explorations, we met the Vellutino brothers, whom have the distinction of being one of Peru’s “first families” of adventure. The brothers went on to start Terra Explorer which is our sister company. This band of adventurous brothers were some of the first white water kayakers in Peru and have explored almost every waterway and trail in their native homeland. It is the close and warm relationships we have formed with our fun-loving and hard working Peruvian “compadres” that makes our Peru adventure travel trips so unique, authentic, memorable and we believe, truly sets us apart from other adventure travel companies. With their input, we have worked hard to combine the best of Peru’s natural treasures into a tempting menu of multi-sport adventures, with luxurious touches, that will exceed all your expectations and be a highlight in your life of adventure travel. Like Chile, Peru is another “home away from home” for us where we are truly welcomed with open arms and are privileged to share some of Peru’s best kept secrets and treasures with you.
RAFTING AND HIKING IN PERU
Over the years our Peru adventure travel trips have received many accolades – we’ve been featured in National Geographic Adventure Magazine, Archaeology and National Geographic Traveler. And in 2000, we ran the first commercial descent of the Cotahuasi River – an adventure that was featured in Outside Magazine.
While in Peruvian towns, such as in Arequipa or Cuzco, we overnight in beautiful, comfortable, centrally located local hotels and enjoy meals at delicious authentic restaurants serving fresh, modern interpretations of traditional Peruvian fare. The nomadic camps we build as we move downstream or hike the ancient inca trails, are incredibly comfortable with spectacular views and superb camping cuisine! We pull out all stops to offer you the most comforts and best food available. On our Peru treks we use a Mountain Hardware space station for dining – set with tables and chairs. Hot water is delivered to your tent every morning for washing up. On-trail meals include a happy hour, hot entrees and scrumptious desserts.
We are proud to boast some of the world’s best white water rafting and kayaking guides. On the river and on the trail, your safety is our number one priority at Bio Bio Expeditions! All our adventure travel trips include Peruvian guides who will educate you on their amazing country, entertain you with stories, songs, and Peruvian lore, and keep you safe!
We invite you to grab a paddle, lace up your hiking boots and dive into Peru for the adventure vacation of a lifetime!
Looking to do something different from what we offer? Not a problem! We can customize your trip to be as short as one day to as long as a month, or more. Give us a call and we can start planning your perfect Peruvian adventure!
