I've seen many spectacular places on this planet, but rafting on the Futa with this crew was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The guides, the support staff, the food, the views, the vibes, the EVERYTHING exceeded my expectations by miles. And the Futa....well words can't quite meet her might and grace. She is a rowdy river but she will grant you the ride of a lifetime if you're humble enough not to forget who is boss.

5 star ratingBest adventure outfitter, hands-down The Zambezi Explorer trip was my third whitewater/multi-sport trip with Bio Bio, and there's no other company I'd entrust my safety (or life) to, especially on a challenging river like the Zambezi. Their guides are the best in the business, with the highest level of credentials with regard to safety, and experience, but they're also personable and fun, but always professional. This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure for me, and on every count, Bio Bio met and exceeded my expectations- their support staff and contractors in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia, included. From the laidback ambiance of Imbabala Safari Lodge to the incredible experience of The Elephant Camp, the safari portions of the trip -especially our guides- were a highlight. Canoeing and rafting the Zambezi provided a lot of adventure, with our safety always being top priority, but everything is top-notch, from meals to campfire time. I appreciate the fact Bio Bio integrates cultural awareness and employs locals, and visiting a school providing us the opportunity to donate items to the kids. I've also found that BBX trips attract like-minded people- well-traveled, adventurous and fun. Over the last 12 years, BBX has given me some of my best memories, adventures and friendships.

Two of us just returned from a week with BBX on the Futuleufu. Fantastic! But you must know this is not the normal multi-day river trip. It's a tremendous base camp from which numerous activities are possible each and every day: rafting different segments of the FU is central on both easy and much more challenging water, but horseback riding, short and longer hikes (some spectacular), and flyfishing are all in order--with small groups ranging from two to twenty. The guides are tremendous and each brings both global experience (Zambesi, Peru, western US, Bhutan) and special skills (professional yoga instruction, two amazing successful professional musicians, etc). The camp itself is special: hot tubs, sauna, separate library, individual semi-isolated tents on rain-sheltered platforms, home-cooked meals on-site twice daily. To repeat, this is not the usual multi-day river trip with successive daily stops, but it is multiple days of remote outdoor activity, all with special people from a special spot on a great river and a couple of its tributaries. We're going planning to book another different trip with BBX and we're planning to return to BBX on the Fu next year

5 star ratingWilderness Medicine Conference for Emergency Medicine 10 Stars plus. An absolutely fabulous conference with multiple lectures pertaining to wilderness medicine given by Matthew DeClerck ER Wildernesses Med Specialist. Some lectures in conference rooms- some in a bus enroute to our 8 or 9 mile hiking start destinations. The conference was in Bhutan. A beautiful country known for its Happiness and its simplicity of life. Not many luxuries in Bhutan but i met many new friends and a good time was had by all. Our drivers and Tour Guides were amazing. They knew everything about the history and culture and we visited many monasteries On the mountain and each one has its own character and is lovely- even if you are not Buddhist, you will find the entire religion warm and calming and fascinating. Visit Bhutan before the opportunity slips by you. You do need a special Visa and a guide as far as I know to visit the country. If can go on any Bio Bio Trip it will be worth you while. The food was great, accommodations were upscale for the area, and the guides went out of their way to accommodate each and every person no matter what eccentric quirks they had . They were very sweet. I give them top dog grades and hope to plan my next year trip with 😊 I love trekking. The Tiger’s Nest was the Ultimate!
