Itinerary

What to expect

Days 1–2: Arrival & Into the Wild

Arrive in Santiago and connect south to Puerto Montt, then transfer to charming Puerto Varas with views of Volcán Osorno. Meet your group for a welcome dinner and trip briefing.
The next day, take a spectacular short flight to Chaitén and travel through lush Patagonia, with an optional hike in Pumalín National Park. Continue past Lago Yelcho and hanging glaciers to riverside basecamp on the legendary Futaleufú River. Settle into your private tent bungalow, soak in the hot tub, and enjoy your first sunset happy hour.

Days 3–4: Rafting the Futaleufú

After yoga and a safety briefing, begin rafting straight from camp. Warm up on fun, continuous Class IV rapids before stepping up to technical challenges like Casa de Piedra. Expect big waves, turquoise water, and expert guides leading the way.
Afternoons offer fishing, kayaking, hiking, sauna, massages, or relaxing riverside. Evenings feature open-bar happy hour, fresh local cuisine, and campfires under Patagonian stars.

Day 5: Paddle Your Own Kayak

Head to the scenic Río Azul canyon to navigate inflatable kayaks (“duckies”) through Class II–III rapids, with the option to take on more challenging drops. It’s a hands-on, empowering day on the water, followed by more relaxation at camp.

Day 6: Patagonian Horseback Adventure

Trade paddles for saddles and ride through the Futaleufú Valley to panoramic overlooks above legendary rapids like Throne Room. Return to camp for a well-earned soak, massage, and gourmet dinner.

Days 7–8: The Grand Whitewater Finale

These are the ultimate river days. Tackle the thrilling Inferno Canyon and other iconic sections of the Futaleufú, with options to walk around the biggest rapids if preferred. Expect powerful Class IV–V whitewater, stunning mountain scenery including Las Tres Monjas, and the unforgettable Terminator rapid.
Celebrate your achievements with a traditional Curanto feast one night and a classic Chilean asado the next — lamb over coals, local wine, music, and stories around the fire.

Day 9: Departure

Return to Chaitén and fly back to Puerto Montt for onward connections. Depart Patagonia with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and stories from one of the world’s great rivers.
