Itinerary

What to expect

Day 0: Arrive in Juneau, Alaska

Your Alaskan adventure begins in Juneau, the gateway to Southeast Alaska. Arrive and settle into the Ramada by Wyndham Juneau Hotel for the evening (recommended hotel; mandatory early arrival accommodations booked independently), with time to relax and prepare for the wilderness journey ahead.

Day 1: Set Sail into the Wild – Juneau, Alaska | Embarkation

Today, your expedition begins. Transfer from your hotel to the hospitality check-in area and board the Wilderness Discoverer or Wilderness Adventurer, where your captain and crew welcome you aboard. Settle into your cabin, explore the ship, and raise a glass to the journey ahead. As you sail away from Juneau, step onto the deck with your binoculars and watch the landscape transform around you—the first chapter of an unforgettable week in Southeast Alaska is underway.

Day 2: Glaciers & Fjords, Tracy Arm & Sawyer Glaciers | Alternate Tidewater Glacier

Journey into the dramatic wilderness of Southeast Alaska, where towering cliffs rise from deep blue waters and floating ice leads the way toward magnificent tidewater glaciers. Your expedition team will select the safest and most spectacular glacier experience based on current conditions and recent landslide activity in the Tracy Arm area. Skiff excursions and kayaking may offer an even closer perspective on this extraordinary landscape, conditions permitting.

Days 3–4: Whales & Wild Coastlines, Frederick Sound & Chichagof Island

Venture into some of Southeast Alaska’s richest wildlife habitat, where misty whale spouts may appear on the horizon and remote shorelines reveal a landscape alive with possibility. Explore Frederick Sound by kayak, skiff, or on foot while keeping watch for humpback whales, sea stars, shorebirds, and other marine life. Continue to the rugged coast of Chichagof Island, renowned for its coastal brown bears, where expert guides lead you into bear country for unforgettable wildlife encounters. From shoreline walks and kayaking to skiff excursions and guided hikes, every outing offers a new perspective on Alaska’s untamed wilderness.

Days 5–6: Two Days in Glacier Country in Glacier Bay National Park

Immerse yourself in the spectacular wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park, a vast landscape of glaciers, mountains, forests, and secluded waterways. With two full days to explore, there is time to experience this extraordinary region at your own pace. Kayak through quiet channels, paddle along glacial waters, hike through spruce and hemlock forests, or venture by skiff into hidden inlets and along glacial ridges. Keep watch for mountain goats, sea lions, puffins, and perhaps even a surprise whale sighting as you discover the remarkable beauty of this remote corner of Alaska.

Day 7: A Final Day of Wilderness in Icy Strait or Neka Bay

Make the most of your final day in the wild with a flexible schedule designed around the best conditions and opportunities for exploration. Paddle quietly through coastal waters, kayak at your own pace, walk along the shoreline, or venture deeper into the wilderness on a bushwhack hike. Skiff excursions provide access to remote stretches of coastline, while your naturalist guides bring the landscape, wildlife, geology, and history of the region to life. Back onboard, unwind in the hot tub and take in the scenery before gathering for a celebratory Captain’s Dinner and a slideshow highlighting the week’s unforgettable moments.

Day 8: Farewell to Alaska, Juneau, Alaska | Disembarkation

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as the ship makes its way back to Juneau. As your expedition comes to an end, say farewell to your captain, crew, and fellow adventurers, carrying with you memories of glaciers, wildlife, wild coastlines, and the incredible landscapes of Southeast Alaska. From here, continue to the airport or extend your stay for another night in Juneau.
