Start in San José before flying to Corcovado National Park and Cano Island, a wildlife paradise with monkeys, toucans, crocodiles, and pristine beaches. Stay at La Paloma Lodge, just steps from black-sand beaches, with hiking, boat trips, and snorkeling led by expert naturalists.
Next, travel through mangroves to the Savegre River Valley and Rafiki Jungle Lodge, inspired by African safari lodges. Hike, horseback ride, watch wildlife, or raft Class III rapids on the Savegre River.
End your trip with a two-day rafting adventure on the Pacuare River, winding through waterfalls and rainforest. Overnight at the eco-luxe Ríos Tropicales Lodge, where comfort and sustainability meet in the heart of the jungle. What to expect
Day 1: Arrival in San José
Arrive in San José and overnight at the Marriott Airport Hotel.
Days 2–6: Corcovado & Cano Island Exploration
Fly to Drake Bay and stay at the spectacular La Paloma Lodge, perched atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific and Cano Island. Explore Corcovado National Park, rated by National Geographic as one of the most biologically intense places on Earth, with a naturalist guide. Enjoy snorkeling and beachcombing at Cano Island Marine Reserve. Optional activities at La Paloma include sea kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, birdwatching, scuba diving, and deep-sea fishing.
Day 6–7: Savegre River & Rafiki Lodge
Travel via boat and van to the Rafiki Safari Lodge on the Savegre River, inspired by African safari lodges. Choose from guided nature walks, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and world-class birding in this breathtaking, wildlife-rich setting.
Day 8 : Free Day in San José
Fly back to San José for a either a rest day or explore the city. Relax at the Marriott, enjoy the spa, or visit local animal rehabilitation centers.
Days 9–10: Pacuare River Rafting & Ríos Tropicales Lodge
Drive to the Pacuare River for two days of tropical whitewater rafting and rainforest adventure. Stay at Ríos Tropicales Lodge, a remote eco-lodge on the riverbank. Activities include ziplining, guided rainforest hikes, waterfalls, hammock relaxation, birdwatching, and rafting through Class III-IV rapids amid lush rainforest teeming with wildlife. Evenings feature open-air dining under the stars.
Day 10–11: Departure
Return to the Marriott Airport Hotel for the night and depart from San José the following day.
