What to expect
Days 1–5: Explore the Napo River Basin
Begin your journey in Quito, flying east into the lush Amazon. From Coca, a motorized canoe takes you down the Napo River to your jungle lodge, where a fresh lunch and orientation set the stage for your adventure. Your first afternoon includes guided walks along forest paths, creek explorations, or a canopy platform for panoramic rainforest views. Evening brings a welcome cocktail, dinner, and optional night walks to hear the forest awaken after dark.
Over the next three days, immerse yourself fully in the rainforest. Dawn excursions reveal red howler monkeys, aracaris, toucanettes, and colorful macaws. Choose from treetop walks, canoe trips, cultural visits to local communities, or the Cacao Experience. Afternoon options include swimming in the lodge’s lake, exploring the butterfly house, piranha fishing, or spotting sloths and red titi monkeys. Each evening ends with dinner and, if desired, nocturnal walks to discover frogs, insects, and caimans under the jungle stars.
On Day 5, return along the Napo River to Coca for your flight back to Quito, taking with you unforgettable memories of wildlife encounters, serene waterways, and the Amazon’s magical, untamed beauty.

The Sacha Lodge
The lodging at Sacha was carefully designed to offer comfort to the traveler yet preserve the environment and rainforest ambience.
All of the cabins, with high thatched roofs and private shaded terraces, are constructed with traditional materials and nestle well concealed into the lush surroundings. Each of 26 the rooms, which include single, double and (upon request) ADA and triple accommodations, provides a private bathroom with flushing toilet and hot shower. All cabins are screened against insects, and contain ceiling fans above two comfortable double beds.
During free time, visitors may overlook the jungle from hammocks and often report seeing wild fauna such as toucans, agoutis and monkeys right from their own cabin!
