What to expect
Days 1–3: Santiago → Puerto Varas → Chaitén → Futaleufú Region
Arrive in Santiago and connect to Puerto Montt before transferring to Puerto Varas, a scenic lakeside town beneath Volcano Osorno. After a welcome dinner, fly to Chaitén and continue by road into Patagonia, passing glaciers and alpine lakes en route to the Futaleufú River. Spend three nights at the lakeside Lonconao Cottages, enjoying Class IV rafting on the Futaleufú, kayaking or rafting on the Espolón River, and optional hiking, fishing, and swimming. Evenings feature chef-prepared meals and relaxing lodge accommodations overlooking Lago Lonconao.
Days 4–6: Futaleufú Canyon → Río Azul → Peuma Lodge
Continue rafting the upper Futaleufú Canyon through exhilarating Class IV rapids, with optional Class V sections for advanced paddlers. Then bike through remote Patagonian farmland and forest to the Río Azul for inflatable kayaking before transferring to Peuma Lodge for a three-night stay. Activities include rafting Class III–IV rapids, exploring the Río Blanco slot canyon via hiking, climbing, and swimming, and enjoying the lodge’s saunas, hot tubs, and mountain views.
Days 7–9: Lago Obsession → Lower Futaleufú → Yelcho → Santiago
Hike through old-growth forest and waterfalls to the dramatic Lago Obsession, with easier hiking or lodge relaxation options available.
