About this trip
Japan Ski & Snowboard Adventure CME
Japan powder skiing tops many skiers’ and riders’ bucket lists for good reason. The island of Hokkaido is famous for having some of the driest and most consistently abundant powder in the world, along with uncrowded resorts and beautiful alpine scenery.
Our adventure begins with four days based at Tomamu, a modern ski-in/ski-out resort surrounded by expansive terrain and legendary powder. During our stay, we’ll ski Tomamu and also spend a day exploring nearby Furano Ski Resort, one of Hokkaido’s most iconic mountains. Advanced skiers and riders may choose to upgrade to a guided day of cat skiing to access untouched powder beyond the resort boundaries.
The final three days of the trip are based in Otaru, a beautiful historic port town with canals, excellent seafood, and easy access to some of the snowiest resorts on Hokkaido.
Beyond the world-class skiing, this experience offers a rich cultural element. Group dinners provide an opportunity to explore Japan’s renowned cuisine, and our accommodations feature relaxing in-hotel onsens (hot springs) and convenient access to nearby towns.
Wilderness Medicine CME lectures take place each afternoon or evening before dinner in a nearby meeting space.
The Wilderness Medicine CME lectures will be held every afternoon or evening before dinner in a nearby meeting space.

Itinerary
What to expect

DAY 1: Arrival to Japan!
Arrive near Sapporo at New Chitose Airport (CTS), where one of your guides and a private coach will be waiting to begin the adventure. We’ll transfer to Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, a premier ski-in/ski-out resort surrounded by expansive terrain and legendary powder. After settling into our comfortable rooms, we’ll begin the first engaging sessions of the wilderness medicine course. The evening is yours to explore Tomamu’s restaurants, lounges, wave pool, and relaxing onsen.
DAY 2-4: Furano Region Ski Days
After a hearty buffet breakfast, enjoy three full days skiing the deep powder of Tomamu and nearby Furano Ski Resort, one of Hokkaido’s most iconic mountains. After a fantastic day on the slopes, relax in the soothing onsen (and cold plunge) or explore the resort before joining CME lectures in the late afternoon.
DAY 5: Rest Day & Transfer to Otaru
Enjoy a relaxing morning at Tomamu before we transfer toward the scenic port city of Otaru. En route, we’ll stop at the historic Sapporo Beer Museum for a brewery tour and lunch. After arriving in Otaru, you’ll have the afternoon to explore the town’s charming canal district, quaint shops, and harborfront.
DAY 6-7: Otaru Region Ski Days
From our base in Otaru, we’ll ski some of Hokkaido’s snowiest and most celebrated resorts, including Sapporo Kokusai, Teine (site of the 1972 Winter Olympics), Niseko, and Kiroro. If conditions permit, we may also explore the smaller local areas of Tenguyama and Asari. In the evenings, our guides will host group dinners and help navigate local menus—an excellent way to experience Otaru’s renowned seafood and vibrant dining scene.
DAY 8: Half Ski Day & Transfer to Airport
Ski until approximately 1 PM at the resort with the best conditions that day—often Sapporo Kokusai, Kiroro, or Teine. In the afternoon, we’ll provide a private transfer to New Chitose Airport (CTS), typically arriving by around 5 PM. If you’d like to extend your stay, we’d be happy to help arrange additional skiing near Niseko or explore another.
