This high-energy Iceland adventure blends outdoor exploration with continuing education for veterinarians through International Veterinary Seminars, creating a rare chance to earn CE Credits while you experience one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes. Travel through the south of Iceland as you hike, e-bike, kayak, snorkel, traverse glaciers, and explore volcanoes, waterfalls, caves, and natural hot springs—all while participating in engaging veterinary learning sessions woven into the journey.

After departing Reykjavík, you’ll ride through lava fields near Hveragerði and soak in remote hot springs before heading off-road in Super Jeeps to reach the wild beauty of Þórsmörk Nature Reserve—a lush, glacier-protected valley of rivers, canyons, and peaks. Here, enjoy unforgettable hikes and two nights of cozy glamping under the stars.

Adventure continues at Sólheimajökull Glacier, where you’ll hike with crampons and kayak among floating icebergs. Ride Icelandic horses beneath Eyjafjalla, visit the black sand beaches of Vík, and explore iconic waterfalls and lava tunnels on your return.

Itinerary

What to expect

Days 1–2: Arrival, Reykjavík & Geothermal Adventure

Arrive in Iceland and transfer to Reykjavík, staying at Hótel Skuggi in the city center. Settle in, explore the capital, and meet the group for a welcome dinner.

The next day, head to Hveragerði for an e-bike ride through lava fields suitable for all levels. In the evening, hike to a geothermal valley featuring waterfalls, bubbling hot springs, and a warm river where you can bathe in nature. Overnight in Hveragerði.

Days 3–4: Silfra Snorkeling & Þórsmörk Highlands Glamping

Begin with snorkeling in the Silfra fissure in Þingvellir National Park, floating between tectonic plates in crystal-clear glacial water.

Continue by Super Jeep into Þórsmörk Nature Reserve, crossing rivers en route. Enjoy a scenic hike up Valahnúkur Mountain, then settle into glamping accommodations for two nights.

The following day, tackle part of the famous Fimmvörðuháls Trail, hiking through dramatic landscapes of glaciers and volcanoes, with the option to reach the Magni and Móði craters. Return to camp for another night in Þórsmörk.

Days 5–6: Glaciers, Hot Pools & South Coast Exploration

Leave Þórsmörk for a day combining kayaking among icebergs on Sólheimajökull glacier lagoon and a guided glacier hike with full gear.

Later, visit Seljavallalaug, a historic mountainside hot pool. Overnight near the south coast.

The next day includes a horseback ride on Icelandic horses with views of Eyjafjallajökull, followed by a visit to Vík and its famous black sand beaches.

Days 7–8: Waterfalls, Lava Tunnel & Departure

Travel back toward Reykjavík, stopping at iconic waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss (where you can walk behind the cascade) and others along the south coast.

Before returning to the city, explore the Raufarhólshellir lava tunnel, a dramatic volcanic cave. Spend your final night in Reykjavík, then depart for the airport the next day.

Optional Extension: Arctic Surfing

Extend your stay with a surfing experience near Reykjavík. With provided cold-water gear, you can surf in Arctic conditions—an unusual and memorable way to end your trip.
